Grant Summary:
The Stolen Generations Truth Telling Grants provide funding for First Nations media makers and community broadcasters to develop and share culturally sensitive stories about the Stolen Generations, led by or centred on survivors and their descendants.

A total funding pool of $200,000 is available through a partnership between the Community Broadcasting Foundation and The Healing Foundation. There is no set minimum or maximum grant amount, allowing both smaller and larger projects to be considered.

Funding can support the creation of podcasts, radio series, documentaries, videos, animation and other forms of digital and broadcast storytelling. Projects should explore truth-telling, cultural themes, lived experiences and the continuing impacts of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities.

The program aims to amplify First Nations voices, document the experiences and testimonies of Stolen Generations survivors and descendants, and increase public understanding of the history and ongoing impacts of the Stolen Generations.

Eligible applicants include licensed community radio and television broadcasters with a First Nations community of interest, First Nations content makers producing stories for recognised community media organisations, and First Nations community media organisations, including Remote Indigenous Media Organisations and Indigenous Community Television.

Individual First Nations producers can apply; however, grant funding must be managed through an eligible community media organisation or incorporated not-for-profit organisation under an auspice arrangement.

Funded stories must initially be broadcast or published through community radio, community television or eligible online platforms, with resulting content also shared with the Community Broadcasting Foundation and The Healing Foundation for promotion.
