Grant Summary:
The City of Sydney Social and Community Grants – Social and Community Projects program supports community-led initiatives that strengthen communities, build social cohesion, encourage inclusion and improve community wellbeing across the City of Sydney.

Funding is available for projects that bring people together, address local social challenges, increase community participation and help people connect with the services, support and opportunities they need. The program can also support initiatives that strengthen the capacity and long-term sustainability of community organisations.

Projects can support a wide range of communities and social issues, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, young people, culturally diverse communities, people experiencing homelessness, social housing residents, women and people experiencing disadvantage or social isolation.

First Nations initiatives are strongly relevant, with examples including support networks for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander frontline workers, National Sorry Day activities, truth-telling, healing, recognition of Stolen Generations survivors, community connection and culturally appropriate support programs.

Cash funding of up to $50,000 per project per year is available, with multi-year funding available for up to three years. Funding can include up to $10,000 for capital expenditure, and applicants can also request value-in-kind support for City of Sydney indoor venue hire.

Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organisations and incorporated associations. Individuals and unincorporated community groups can also participate when auspiced by an eligible not-for-profit organisation.

Projects must operate within the City of Sydney local government area or demonstrate significant benefits to City of Sydney communities. Projects that duplicate existing services or programs are not eligible.
