Grant Summary:
The City of Sydney Social and Community Grants – Food Support Projects program supports community-based organisations to increase access to affordable, healthy and culturally appropriate food for priority communities across the City of Sydney.

Funding is available for both small and large-scale food support projects, including programs addressing food insecurity, improving access to nutritious food, building food preparation and employment skills, reducing social isolation, providing food education and developing culturally appropriate community food programs.

Small-scale projects can receive up to $250,000 over one to three years, including up to $100,000 for capital expenditure or other resources. Large-scale projects can receive up to $500,000 over one to three years, including up to $150,000 for capital expenditure or other resources. Applicants can also request value-in-kind support for City of Sydney indoor venue hire.

Projects could include Aboriginal-led food programs, such as culturally safe initiatives providing healthy meals to First Nations children and young people, community food relief, rescued food programs, food education, employment pathways and programs supporting families experiencing food insecurity.

Eligible applicants include not-for-profit organisations and incorporated associations. Individuals and unincorporated community groups may also be eligible for small-scale projects when auspiced by an eligible not-for-profit organisation.

Projects must operate within the City of Sydney local government area or demonstrate significant benefits to City of Sydney communities, and all projects must demonstrate how they will meet relevant food safety requirements.
